Religious attitudes and experiences of professional students - A replication study
Have psychology students' attitudes towards faith and religion changed over the last 15 years?
In 2005, all professional psychology students in Norway were invited to participate in a survey on how religion was treated as a topic in their education. 93% reported that there was no focus on religion in lectures, seminars and curriculum. 78% wanted more space for religion in education. The majority, 92%, also felt that increased knowledge of religion would make students better able to meet people from different cultural and religious backgrounds. Now we repeat the survey 15 years later.
Religiosity in mental health care
Results from the first part of the study show that when health professionals are asked about spirituality and faith, psychologists are the group that reports being the least religious. The psychologists say that they want to be able to talk about spirituality, but that they rarely actively steer the conversation towards the topic.
